SUBMITTING YOUR WORK TO AN EDITOR
Memoir Writing Ink is delighted to offer you the option of submitting a single piece of writing to a small team of carefully selected associate editors. This is a terrific way to prepare for a contest or to ensure that your work is in the best possible shape before submitting it to a magazine or other publication.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
You are welcome to submit a story/essay or excerpt of a longer work to a maximum of 2000 words. If you are submitting an excerpt of a book project, please provide a short explanation or synopsis of the larger work. (This does not count as part of the 2000.) If you would like to submit a piece that is longer than 2000 words, please write to support@alisonwearing.com and we will work out a price on a per-word basis.
Your file must be either .doc or .docx (ie. written in Word).
Your writing must be in Times New Roman font, 12-pt (size), and double-spaced.
* If your submission does not meet the guidelines, it will be returned to you.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE (within 3-5 days):
* An overview and/or general substantive edit (ie. comments on the overall concept, arc, style).
* Tailored editorial feedback that addresses the specific needs of your submission (ie. comments on structure and flow, character development, balancing scene and narrative, finding the story's essence or container, etc.).
* If the piece has any recurring problems (ie. punctuation errors or a lot of 'telling'), you will also receive a sample corrected paragraph and/or an entire paragraph as an example of 'show don't tell' writing.
* Suggestions for moving forward with the next draft or improved version.
* PLUS: The option of resubmitting the work for a second viewing, follow-up critique and/or a final copy edit (error check) at no extra cost!

HOW TO SUBMIT:
* Make your payment in the currency of your choice using the flag buttons below.
* Once you have made your payment, send please fill out THIS FORM ( you will need the order number found on the receipt that will be sent to your inbox). You will be able to attach your writing directly to the form.
* Find something fun to do for the next few days to distract yourself while your editor reads your piece. :)
