Writing is a powerful tool to transform grief and loss. This workshop offers the opportunity to explore your loss through story and to connect with other grievers, all from the comfort of your home. LYRIC ESSAY WORKSHOP | EXPERIMENTING WITH FORM

In this six-week course, writers will explore the meaning of the lyric essay; how the autobiographical and poetic merge to create something larger than the sum of its parts. Based on four essay forms (flash, segmented, braided and hermit crab essays) introduced during the first four weeks of the course, participants will develop one lyric essay to be shared in weeks five or six.

Twice a year, Alison offers an intensive online workshop for six writers interested in doing a deep dive into their writing. Participants will receive personalised feedback on their work and learn what it takes to make their writing crackle to life.
This workshop offers the opportunity to explore layers and depths of craft, from the lyricism and rhythm of sentences to the architecture of story, the mechanics of structure, and voice. Together we’ll dig into the nitty-gritty of how to sculpt a piece of writing into an exquisite work of art. This workshop is limited to 6 people.
